Céline Marie Claudette Dion, born on 30 March 1968, is a Canadian singer, song writer and stage performer. Celine Dion was born in Charlemagne, Quebec, Canada into a large family of 14 children.

The music icon is the youngest of 14 children. Her father was Adhemar and mother Therese Dion. She grew up in a family with passion for music. After a lot of prodding, her parents came to a decision to form a singing group; Dion’s Family, and they toured Canada when Celine was still an infant. They later opened a piano bar, where the young Celine Dion would perform to the delight of customers.

Celine Dion is one of the few musicians who can sing both in French and English languages. The pop star first made headlines as a teen in the ‘80s when she released series of chart topping songs in French.

At the age of 12, Celine Dion with the help of her supportive mother recorded a demo tape. The brother of the pop star got a top French producer Rene Angelil to listen to the tape.

Rene Angeli, was famous for handling the career of popular French singer Ginette Reno. After listening to the Demo, he invited young Celine Dion to perform for him in person.

Angelil was awed by the young Celine Dion and the famous producer signed her immediately. Albeit, signing the young Celine Dion came at a condition that Angelil would have complete control over her career.

Angelil is widely published to have mortgaged his own home to finance her debut album, La Voix du bon Dieu (The Voice of God).

Celine is gifted with flair for language. At 18, Celine Dion had 7 French albums to her name and had won numerous Felix and Juno awards.
